Steps to prevent excessive wear and tear on your Volvo

February 20th, 2017

Keeping every part of your unit lubricated should be an essential requirement. Lubrication in the form of grease or oil allows each part to function correctly, prevents excessive wear of parts and, without a doubt, will prevent premature corrective maintenance on your vehicle.

How to keep your unit on the road? Follow these tips:

TAKE CARE OF THE BEARINGS

Inspecting, cleaning and greasing with special bearing lubricant, according to the service intervals, will give your vehicle longer life and better performance. Don't forget that wheel bearings and grease are inexpensive compared to replacing the parts that are lubricated, which is much more expensive.

Remember that a bearing is only as good as the lubricant it contains. In addition, lubricating the bearings extends the service life, reduces the noise level, allows higher vehicle speeds to be reached and makes them resistant against extreme influences.

CHANGE TRANSMISSION OIL

This point is of the utmost importance, therefore we must follow it with special attention: if the oil is not changed, residues can be created that affect the gears and bearings of the transmission. Consequently, it would cause noise and in an extreme case it would impair the operation of the transmission.

Remember that using the oil recommended by the manufacturer of the unit will guarantee the optimal operation and performance of your vehicle.
