The Mexican industry is becoming 'robotized' Manufacturing Magazine
November 30th, 2013Mexico has positioned itself as the ninth most important market for the sale of industrial robots and the second in terms of growth rate, due to the dynamism shown by the manufacturing industry, assured Germán Villalobos, director of Sales and Marketing of Kuka, a manufacturer of automatons for the plant.
According to the International Federation of Robotics, each year around 2,000 robots are sold in the country in the different manufacturing plants.
“Mexico is a 'robotized' and 'robotizable' country due to the investments (in new industrial plants) that are arriving,” Villalobos said during an industrial robotics forum organized by Manufactura magazine.
For his part, Antonio Medina, director of Regional Sales of Yaskawa, a subsidiary of Motoman, said that, in the last four years, the number of robots installed in Mexican factories has doubled, due to manufacturing dynamism.
He even said that the investments announced in the automotive, aerospace and electronics sectors suggest that the trend to use more robots will continue to increase.
“Mexico is growing as a producer of cars and aircraft parts; It is the first manufacturer of televisions and refrigerators. More investments are expected in these sectors and robotics is going to give people something to talk about," he added.
