Train key in process automation
June 26th, 2013Staff training is one of the main factors that must be worked on, for a healthy automation of logistics processes, Adalberto Navarro, senior consultant in Business Solutions at Infor Mexico, said in an interview with T21.
One of the first steps for the automation of processes lies in reviewing the current environment of the logistics service provider, and at this stage the training of personnel stands out so that they become familiar with the software and electronic devices to be implemented, otherwise they cannot make the change, said the executive.
All automation requires a convergence between the technology to be implemented and the personnel, business and administrative processes of the company.
After reviewing the current environment, the modeling of the operation must be done, normally it begins with the warehouse part, then the labor aspects, billing systems for services and, as one of the final parts, transportation. Within modeling, pilot tests are carried out to go live with the application, Navarro explained.
Therefore, the cooperation of the staff is also a key element to streamline these processes. There is now less resistance to change due to rapid technological advancement and more and more user-friendly devices.
He referred that depending on the size of the company and its processes, the time for the automation of all the processes of the logistics chain varies between four and six months. Because each time the design of the solutions are compatible with other platforms such as Oracle or SAP.
