Despite the fact that the volumes of garment returns are very low, between 3 and 4%, as well as returns, since only 1% of customers do not keep the merchandise, ensuring reverse logistics is one of the the key points of e-commerce, because the user's confidence in future purchases depends on it.
The director of Onest Logistics, Rubén Imán, explained in an interview that currently of the 150 million garments that are moved per year, around 500 thousand are handled by e-commerce. A figure that, although he still called "low", they expect increase to 25 or 30 million pieces per year in a period of between three or four years due to the increase in active buyers on the Internet.
“The most important part for e-commerce is the return of the order: if the size, color or texture does not fit well, we go through the product and send it back to the distribution center; it is verified that it is in good condition, a physical change is made and a day later you have the product”, he explained.
to get that the customer has the product available again within 24 hours, the manager explained that a very precise picking (preparation of the product) per piece is needed.
In the opinion of the president of FedEx ExpressMéxico, Jorge Torres, the rise of e-commerce in the country will depend on the "degree of trust" of users. That is, the means of payment and the punctual arrival of the merchandise. "When a person begins to experience a secure payment process and delivery of their merchandise on time, it causes that generation of experiences of first attempts to trigger users to buy online," he warned.
Currently, there are 17 million active buyers on the Internet, according to data from the Mexican Internet Association (AMIPCI).
