Increased demand from the logistics sector
November 30th, 2013
According to specialists in Mexico, around 750 million tons of cargo are moved in different modes of transport, where more than 60% of goods are moved through highways.
In this context, growth in the transport and logistics sector has taken an unbridled course, in the case of Mexico, logistics has become a growing and extremely necessary business, since due to advances in this business, it is possible bring water, medicine, food, clothing, equipment and building materials to remote places and thereby enable both small towns and large cities to prosper.
This has caused greater challenges and investments, for example: last September during the first Government Report, the chief executive announced an investment of 88 thousand 592 million pesos in highway infrastructure. The objective is to position the country as a power in logistics and transportation.
Likewise, a study carried out this year by the Center for Innovation in Logistics and Commerce of Mexico (CILTEC), detailed that in Mexico SMEs see their costs increase by up to 30% of their sales due to not having an adequate logistics policy.
